Study Tip: Flash Cards

When learning a new language, using flash cards is a must. Following these steps will guarantee high test scores and better comprehension of the new language. It is real simple:

1.) When you start a new lesson, write down every new vocabulary word on a flash card, with the English definition on the other side.

  • Make sure you indicate if nouns are feminine, masculine, or neutral
2.) For new verbs, write the infinitive on one side, and conjugate it in every tense you know on the reverse side.

3.) When you have everything, go through the stack looking at the side with the new language and saying out loud what the English translation is. When you get one right, set it aside. When incorrect, put in the back of the stack. Do this until you get them all right.

4.) Repeat this exercise with the English side facing you, saying the word out loud in the new language.

5.) Repeat as needed until you can go through the stack and get everything correct in one attempt.

6.) Practice with friends and classmates when possible.
